Hyundai Glovis Company, the shipping and logistics unit of South Korean automaker Hyundai Motor Group, plans to establish a vehicle logistics hub in the Port of Amsterdam, the Netherlands, as it looks to strengthen its European distribution operations.
The company has signed an agreement with the Port of Amsterdam, and Koopman Logistics Group, a local company specialising in vehicle storage, pre-delivery preparation, and transportation, to establish a regional automotive logistics hub to improve vehicle deliveries to major dealer networks across the European Union (EU).
As part of the agreement, Hyundai Glovis will establish a dedicated 480,000 sq m vehicle terminal at the port of Amsterdam with three berths for pure car and truck carriers (PCTCs), storage yards for up to 20,000 vehicles, and vehicle pre-delivery inspection operations. The facility will also be directly connected to European railway networks.
The new hub will be the company’s first in-house finished vehicle logistics port base in Europe, providing a one-stop logistics service covering the entire transportation process, from maritime shipping to inland distribution.
