Taiwan’s Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn) is expected to finalise an agreement with the Polish government in the coming weeks to establish production facilities for battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and semiconductors in the country.

Hon Hai announced in May that it had begun talks with Polish state-owned Electro Mobility Poland SA (EMP) to establish a joint venture partnership to produce vehicles in Poland for sale in markets across Europe.

Poland’s State Assets Minister, Wojciech Balczun, confirmed in a local TV interview recently that negotiations with Foxconn’s battery BEV unit, Foxtron Vehicle Technologies, are now at an advanced stage. A final agreement is expected to be signed in the fourth quarter of this year, with construction of the BEV plant in Jaworzno, southern Poland, set to begin in spring 2027.

Balczun told Polish broadcaster TVP Info: "We are currently finalising negotiations with our technological partner, Foxconn. I expect that we will be able to close these negotiations within the next few weeks.”

He added that “as soon as this process is completed, we expect to break ground on the plant next spring, while preliminary work on the project has already begun.”

The plant is expected to have a production capacity of 450,000 vehicles per year, producing three mid-sized battery-powered SUV models, with operations scheduled to start in 2029.

EMP is a state-owned firm focused on developing next-generation automotive manufacturing operations. The company is understood to have already secured around EUR 1 billion to fund the project, to build a production plant as well as research and development (R&D) facilities.
