GM EVs to get bi-directional charging

Access would be provided through GM Energy Ultium Home products

Luke Martin August 08 2023

General Motors said it would include vehicle-to-home (V2H) bidirectional charging in its line of Ultium EVs by 2026.

First vehicles to use the technology will be the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV RST, GMC Sierra EV Denali Edition 1, Chevrolet Blazer EV, Equinox EV, Cadillac Lyriq and Escalade IQ.

V2H charging allows storage and transfer of energy during peak demand and reduces the impact of power outages.

Access would be provided through GM Energy Ultium Home products.

GM Energy Cloud software will manage the flow of energy between GM products and buildings.

More details will follow.
