Geely brand to enter the UK in Q4

The battery-powered EX5 first model to go on sale in the UK.

Frankie Youd July 03 2025

Chinese automaker Zhejiang Geely Holding Group (Geely) announced that it plans to launch the Geely brand in the UK in the fourth quarter of 2025, following a growing number of Chinese automakers into one of Europe’s largest vehicle markets. Geely is already present in the UK with its Lotus, Volvo Cars and Polestar subsidiaries, but has yet to launch its mainstream Chinese Geely brand.

The company confirmed that the first Geely model to be sold in the UK will be the EX5 battery-powered SUV, which the company said is still undergoing "intensive development work" to meet British car buyers' standards.

Geely confirmed the EX5 “will be the first in a diverse range of high-quality, accessible vehicles tailored for the UK.”

Geely is in the process of rolling out the EX5 model in global markets. It is currently available in markets such as Australia, Thailand, Indonesia, Brazil, and Germany. The Geely brand was launched in Greece at the beginning of July, also spearheaded by the EX5.

The UK is one of Europe's largest markets for battery electric vehicles (BEVs), with 382,000 units registered in 2024.
