Automotive supplier Forvia has agreed to create an automotive seating joint venture (JV) in India with Anand Group, targeting roughly 10% market share in five years.

The proposed entity, named Faurecia Anand Seating India Private Limited, will produce seat frames and fully assembled seats.

The deal, whose transaction value has not been revealed, is expected to conclude by the end of 2026, subject to customary closing requirements and regulatory approvals.

Control of the JV will sit with France’s Forvia through a holding of 50% plus one share holding, whilst Gabriel India Limited – the publicly listed flagship entity of Anand Group – will hold a stake of 50% minus one share.

Forvia CEO Martin Fischer said: “When we unveiled our IGNITE strategy earlier this year, we highlighted India as a key growth driver for Forvia. Following the award of our first complete-seat programme a few months ago, today’s agreement marks another important milestone in our development in the country.”

According to the statement, the initiative fits with Forvia’s local-for-local manufacturing approach, designed to address expanding vehicle output across India.

Operationally, the joint business will draw upon Forvia Seating’s complete technology portfolio and engineering capabilities.

Anand Group will provide domestic manufacturing infrastructure, local supply chain networks, workforce development, and commercial access to Indian original equipment manufacturers.

The transaction reinforces an industrial relationship between the two component manufacturers that began in 1991 with a clean mobility partnership.

Anand Group is a $2.6bn automotive group consisting of 25 operating companies across 92 sites located in India, Europe, and South America.

Gabriel India specialises in ride control equipment, body-in-white solutions, and broader mobility subsystems.

Anand Group and Gabriel India executive chairperson Anjali Singh added: “This venture strengthens our longstanding partnership with Forvia, building on complementary strengths and a shared commitment to innovation. By bringing together Forvia’s global expertise and Gabriel India’s strong market presence, it creates a platform that is both strategically significant and future-ready.”

Separately, Forvia agreed in April to offload its Interiors Business Group to funds run by Apollo Global Management via a carve-out transaction carrying an enterprise value of €1.82bn ($2.13bn).
