First US Honda car plant builds #15m

MAP has produced a variety of Honda and Acura models

Graeme Roberts April 05 2024

Honda's Marysville Auto Plant (MAP) in Ohio this week built its 15 millionth vehicle, almost 22 years after Job One, a second generation Accord sedan, rolled off the line on 1 November 1982.

The next Marysville milestone will be becoming the first Honda plant in North America to produce a battery electric vehicle.

In October 2022, the automaker announced a US$700m investment in its vast auto operations to create the Ohio EV Hub, which includes MAP, the East Liberty Auto Plant, Anna Engine Plant, and the new joint venture battery plant currently under construction near Jeffersonville.

Officials from Honda, LG Energy Solution and state and community leaders participate in the official groundbreaking for the new joint venture EV battery facility in Fayette County, Ohio.

Since that first Accord, MAP has produced a variety of Honda and Acura models and today builds the latest Accord plus the Acura TLX and Integra, including Type S variants.
