VW Group’s Cupra brand has issued a statement emphasising that the new electric Raval model is a cornerstone of its electrification strategy and a key product pillar in its long-term plans. The statement follows news of Volkswagen Group’s restructuring strategy and speculation over future model cuts after it said that it will halve its model line-up.

Cupra issued the following statement that was sent to Just Auto:

“The Cupra Raval is currently being launched across all our markets and is already one of the most successful launches in the brand’s history. The response from customers, the media and the wider public has been outstanding and has exceeded our expectations.

“The Cupra Raval is a cornerstone of Cupra’s electrification strategy and a fundamental pillar of the brand’s long-term product plan. It will play a central role in Cupra’s growth for many years to come.

“Cupra remains fully committed to its long-term vision of expanding the brand, with the Raval continuing to be one of its most important strategic products.”

VW’s SEAT & Cupra unit leads the cluster for the development of the family of urban electric cars for the Volkswagen Group’s Brand Group Core, which includes four models from three different brands, all manufactured in Spain: the Cupra Raval and Volkswagen ID. Polo at the Martorell factory, and the Skoda Epiq and Volkswagen ID. Cross at the Volkswagen Navarra facilities.
