South Korean electric vehicle (EV) fast-charging equipment manufacturer and network operator, Chaevi Company Ltd, has won two separate government contracts to establish public EV charging networks in the country, according to local reports.
One of the deals was signed with the Korea Environment Corporation, which is part of the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment, awarding Chaevi the contract for the Zone 4 of the 2026 Public EV Fast Charger Manufacturing and Procurement Project, covering the southern regions of Busan, Ulsan, Daegu, North and South and Gyeongsang Provinces.
As part of this contract, Chaevi will produce and install 136 standalone 100-kilowatt chargers and 113 simultaneous 200-kilowatt chargers at major transit points across the zones.
The second contract is with Seoul Energy Corporation, a utility company owned by the Seoul city government. This involves the production and installation of 12 dual-type 100-kilowatt and 200- kilowatt fast charging stations at public facilities in Seoul by the end of the year.
Under the two contracts, Chaevi will produce and install a total of 261 fast-charger systems for public use. The South Korean government has set a target of having 1.23 million EV charging stations in place nationwide by 2030, including 145,000 fast chargers.
Earlier this year Chaevi signed contracts to help install fast-charging networks in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and North America.
