Archion Corporation unveiled the first Mitsubishi-Fuso and Hino trucks to share a common platform, a key milestone in the process of integrating the two brands under the new holding company, with the aim of maximising economies of scale by sharing the cost of developing platforms and other technologies, while also standardising components.
Archion was established in April 2026 as the 100% shareholder of Japanese truck-makers Hino Motors Ltd and Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation, with their respective former parent companies Toyota Motor Corporation and Daimler Truck AG each owning 25% of the company’s equity. The remaining 50% of the shares are publicly traded on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
Archion confirmed that the new Hino Ranger and Fuso Fighter medium-duty trucks are based on the same platform, with Hino supplying its existing platform to Mitsubishi Fuso. They will go on sales mainly in the Japanese market in the near future.
The company said in a statement: “The new vehicles represent the first milestone in Archion’s ‘Integrated Platform Strategy’, a key pillar in the company’s growth strategy,” adding that the “Integrated Platform Strategy is at the core of Archion’s growth agenda, aimed at maximising the integration of synergies between Hino and Mitsubishi Fuso, strengthening product competitiveness, and serving a broader range of customer needs.
As part of this strategy, the two brands will standardise core vehicle platforms, including powertrains, chassis, cabs, and electronic architectures, optimise component specifications, leverage economies of scale, and enhance overall product competitiveness.”
Archion confirmed that in the near term, it will make use of existing platforms for the development of Hino and Mitsubishi Fuso trucks, saying that this approach “will allow both brands to respond more quickly and effectively to customer needs that would have been difficult to address independently.”
Archion said that in the medium and long term, it will focus on the development of new platforms that “fully leverage integration synergies by combining the strengths of Hino and Mitsubishi Fuso and fostering a collaborative development approach with the extensive supplier networks of both companies. In addition, by leveraging its strategic partnerships with Daimler Truck and Toyota, both of which possess industry-leading technological expertise, Archion aims to strengthen the competitiveness of the Group as a whole through the adoption of advanced technologies and the realisation of greater economies of scale.”
