Aisin says it has commenced contract manufacturing a six-speed automatic transmission developed by Mazda at Aisin Drivetrain, Inc. (ADI) in Indiana - its consolidated subsidiary in the US.

In the North American market, vehicle manufacturers are increasingly expanding local production, while demands continue to grow for stable supply and rapid responsiveness. To meet these needs, the company is leveraging the production technologies it has cultivated in the transmission field to build a production framework that is ‘closely aligned with the region’.

The contract manufacturing of Mazda’s six-speed AT in the ADI will further enhance supply capabilities and responsiveness in the North American market, the company says.

ADI was founded 1 October 1996, and was the first company established in the Crothersville Industrial Park, Indiana. ADI manufactures a wide range of products for customers in the automotive and heavy equipment industries, including Toyota, Lexus, Honda, Stellantis and Mazda. The products include industrial and commercial transmissions, electric rear axles, electric water pumps and power steering columns.
