Automated driving software developer aiMotive, in partnership with LG, is set to present a joint in-vehicle platform combining infotainment and driver assistance functions in a single controller.
Instead of relying on several separate controllers, the new HPC Lite system brings together several vehicle functionalities in one electronic control unit (ECU).
The unit is equipped with aiMotive’s aiDrive solution, which is based on a multi-camera and multi-radar sensor set-up.
The software is built to enable Level 2+ assistance for navigation-led driving on highway networks and secondary routes and it operates without high-definition maps.
It supports capabilities such as traffic light recognition, stop line detection and automated speed changes in line with posted motorway limits.
LG Vehicle Solution Company president Eun Seok-hyun said: “This next-gen solution developed together with aiMotive reflects our continued focus on integrated IVI and ADAS technologies.
“The platform supports the development of SDV and aligns with our strategy to deliver flexible, high-performance automotive solutions.”
By merging advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) and in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) functions into a single ECU, the platform is intended to cut the number of hardware components and simplify the underlying electronics.
The system architecture is structured to handle processing and data flow between the different domains.
The controller also incorporates a human–machine interface (HMI) for vehicle displays, covering both the instrument cluster and the central information screen.
LG’s interface includes an ADAS Confident View feature that shows 3D and 2D visualisations of the vehicle’s environment.
aiDrive senior vice president Gábor Pongrácz said: “Our expertise in AI-powered software and deep understanding of the automotive ecosystem enable us to deliver scalable and reliable solutions for automated driving.
“We are proud to be partnering with LG, and to contribute our technology to a platform that will make driving safer and more intelligent.”
aiMotive and LG have been working together on the platform since May and plan to showcase the integrated solution publicly at CES 2026 next month.
Earlier this month, LG joined forces with Qualcomm Technologies for its next-generation AI Cabin Platform, an IVI system.
