Witte Automotive (Velbert) has taken an unspecified share in Prague-based, Institute of Microelectronic Applications (IMA), a developer of electronic identification systems.
The aim of the cooperation is to extend Witte Automotive’s field of electronics. The first joint development projects were launched two years ago and are being developed further in a newly-acquired office building in Prague.
With a 25 years history and 80 employees, of which more than 60% are in development, IMA develops, manufactures and markets products such as access control and intelligent buildings for customers including Skoda and CEZ.
“This deepening of cooperation is another important milestone in the implementation of our digital strategy,” said Witte Automotive, CEO, Rainer Goelz. “Witte’s presence at IMA will provide us with the necessary know-how in the field of digital access.”
For his part, IMA CEO, Tomas Trpisovsky added: “After a careful selection, we have found a strong industrial partner at Witte. Together, we will build a Competence Centre to deliver the results of our research and development to such areas as Smart Cities, Industry 4.0 and the Internet of Things (IoT), but above all in the form of digital applications for the automotive industry.
“IMA will gain a new economic base to ensure not only its own but also the future of its employees.”
