Wabco and Vos Logistics have signed an agreement for the former’s Fleet Management Solutions (FMS).

Wabco will deliver 1,200 TX-Sky on-board computers developed by its digital solutions business. TX-Sky will replace the existing FMS system Vos Logistics has been relying on for more than 20 years. Vos Logistics will also use Wabco’s TX-Flex app to support its drivers with out-of-cabin activities.

The solutions will be provided through Wabco’s Fleet Solutions business which has been created to deliver a global portfolio of parts, solutions and services.

“In 2018, we identified the need for a new telematics solution, both hardware and software, to improve communication between internal and external stakeholders, gain enhanced efficiency levels and deliver a better service towards our end customers,” said Vos Logistics Purchase Manager, Pieter Derksen.

“Wabco worked out a proof of concept, combining a fixed TX-Sky on-board computer and its TX-Flex driver app. We tested the platform in 15 vehicles from five subsidiaries and it met every single one of our requirements.”

Wabco’s digital arm has completed the replacement of all 1,200 existing on-board computers in Vos Logistics’ trucks with TX-Sky. These fixed TX-Sky devices will act as a secured communication gateway, providing the drivers with navigation and planning details, as well as feedback on available driving and resting times and driving style.

Additionally, Vos Logistics’ drivers will use Wabco’s TX-Flex app on their smartphones to complete out-of-cabin activities. This includes the ability to scan barcodes and signed documents, upload pictures, add customer comments or pallet information as well as report issues.

The data is then synchronised with TX-Sky via Bluetooth. As TX-Flex enables drivers to finalise all documents on the customer’s premises and share them with the back office, the app helps to digitise and reduce the time taken to support a wide range of processes, from product delivery to invoicing.

Vos Logistics will use the API tool to link their own app and/or third-party apps, including TransFollow or E-Pionira with TX-Flex. In addition, Wabco’s comprehensive web services tool will ensure the integration of TX-Connect, its back-office platform, with Lovos – the in-house transport management system that supports customer service, freight planning, fleet management and administration in every office.

In addition to taking delivery of 1,200 TX-Sky units, Vos Logistics plans to purchase another 300 TX-Sky systems to integrate into the trucks of acquired carriers during the course of 2019.
