An unusual recall in the US though only a small number of vehicles are affected – VW needs to fit a hybrid battery tray drain to 825 cars.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Volkswagen Group of America is recalling certain 2011-2015 model year Touareg Hybrid vehicles made between 20 March, 2010 and 11 April, 2015 because the hybrid battery tray may not drain water sufficiently. If water collects in the tray, it could cause an electrical short in the high voltage battery.

Dealers will install a drain valve to allow water to drain properly, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in late February 2016.
