Niedersachsen’s regional government has confirmed to just-auto the damaging dispute between Volkswagen and two of its suppliers has finally ended, after days of significant disruption to the automaker and its staff.
Prime Minister Stephen Weil – whose government seat of Hannover is near to Volkswagen’s global headquarters of Wolfsburg in northern Germany expressed relief the disagreement had now been resolved,
“It is good now an agreement has been made and therefore the clarification of a dispute that was for everyone involved economically damaging and distressing,” said Weil’s statement sent to just-auto and put through a basic translation service.
“I am especially happy for the employees, who can now quickly return to their jobs again. They have become in the last few days the victims of a conflict that has been discharged without need.”
The stand-off has caused major disruption to Volkswagen and its supply chain, with some 28,000 staff facing the prospect of short-time working, although this has now been clearly averted.
