Vietnam's new vehicle market showed little sign of running out of steam in November with the Vietnam Automotive Manufacturers Association reporting vehicle deliveries to dealers rising by 53% to 20,921 units from 13,689 units a year earlier.
Sales in the first 11 months of the year increased by over 57% to 184,787 units, from 117,463 units previously, as the economy continues to benefit from strong growth in domestic consumption, exports and manufacturing investment.
Sales of passenger cars, SUVs and MPVs combined increased by close to 48% to 103,503 units in the 11-month period, from 70,080 units previously. Sales of commercial vehicles, including special-purpose vehicles, rose by close to 73% to 81,284 units from 47,072 units.
Toyota was the leading brand in the January-November period, with sales rising by 24% to 44,935 units. Truong Hai (Thaco) group, a local assembler and distributor of brands such as Kia, Mazda, Peugeot and Hyundai, reported a 90% rise in overall sales to 71,085 units.
Ford's cumulative sales increased by 47% to 18,106 units, while Honda's sales were up by 31% at 7,408 units.
