Car sales in Vietnam fell 9% year on year in November, the fifth straight month of decline, industry data showed.

Compared with the previous month, however, sales rose 7.5%, according to Dow Jones, citing data from the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers’ Association.

A total of 11,198 locally assembled and imported cars were sold last month, compared with 12,259 in November last year, the association said.

According to government data issued last month, Vietnam imported 45,570 assembled cars, valued at US$836m, in the first 11 months of this year, down 34.3% on year by volume and 22.4% by value.

Imports of cars and car parts were worth $2.556bn in the January to November period, down 4% on year.
