Malaysia’s APM has opened a US$4m leaf springs plant in the Binh Duong Province of Vietnam.

The facility, called APM Springs Vietnam, was opened after a six-month construction period, reported the Saigon Times Daily.

The 10,000 square metre plant in the Vietnam–Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) will turn out 8,000 tonnes of leaf springs per year, rising later to 10,000 tonnes.

APM will export 80% of production.

Group company director Haji Kamarudin said: “The domestic supply is set to increase when demand increases and the local automotive industry further expands.”
