Vehicle sales in Venezuela were up over 63% in March to 24,637 units, according to industry trade association CAVENEZ.

This brings first quarter sales to a record quarterly level of 66,262 units, an increase of 55.4% over a year earlier.

Much of the growth in demand was met by imports. Sales of vehicles assembled in Venezuela totaled 33,697 units in the first quarter, up 19% on a year earlier. Imports from other Andean Pact countries were up 52% to 10,169 units and imports from other countries rose almost 200% to 22,396 units.
