The Venezuela Automotive Chamber (Cavenez) has announced that 10,600 vehicles were sold in Venezuela during August, a 2.2% increase on the July result but a massive 48.9% down on the figure for August 2001.


In the first eight months of the year vehicle sales reached 101,867 units – 26% down on the same period of last year.


However, Cavanez reported a positive trend on exports – 626 vehicles in August, a gain of 35.2% on last year. In the first eight months of the year, Venezuelan vehicle makers exported 4,283 units, 18.5% ahead of the same period in 2001.
