Valmet Automotive has set a new production record by manufacturing 110,000 cars at its Uusikaupunki, Finland plant in 2018.
Valmet Automotive’s production volumes have been increasing since 2013, when the company entered into vehicle manufacturing agreements with Daimler.
Initially manufacturing the third-generation Mercedes-Benz A-Class, Valmet has expanded its production with the GLC SUV and new A-Class.
In 2018, Valmet Automotive reached the new volume record of 110,000 cars with the Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV and fourth-generation A-Class vehicles. The record volume has also ramped up Finnish car exports and passenger cars have consolidated their position as one of the leading Finnish export items.
“Production volume of [more than] 100,000 vehicles means Valmet Automotive has transformed from a speciality manufacturer into a volume manufacturer,” said Valmet SVP Manufacturing Business Line, Pasi Rannus.
“This is a strategic achievement, with thanks to Daimler, partners and our personnel.”
Production is based on scalable manufacturing services, ranging from small volume vehicles to premium high volume products.
The previous record at the Uusikaupunki plant was 90,000 cars in 2017.
