Vehicle production last week in the US, Canada and Mexico was expected to hit an estimated 351,175 units, down 5.9% from the 373,275 cars and trucks built the previous week, according to WardsAuto.com.


Including last week’s estimates, calendar year North American output now totals 12,324,500 vehicles, down 0.1% from like-2004’s pace.


In the US, automakers were expected to produce 256,328 vehicles last week, down 5.6% from the 271,623 cars and trucks built the previous week. To date, calendar 2005 US vehicle output totals an estimated 9,137,313 units, up 0.2% compared to the 9,116,497 vehicles built in like-2004.


Last week’s Canadian vehicle production was estimated at 61,610, a decrease of 1.4% from the 62,487 units assembled the previous week. Estimated calendar-2005 Canadian vehicle production now stands at 1,993,688 units, down 3.0% compared to the 2,055,767 vehicles produced in like-2004.


Of the cars and trucks slated for production last week in the US, General Motors Corp. accounted for 28.9%; Ford Motor Co., 23.1%; Chrysler of DaimlerChrysler, 14.5%; Honda of America Mfg. Inc., 6.8%; Toyota Motor Mfg. Inc., 6.8%; Nissan Motor Mfg. Corp., 6.8%; New United Motor Mfg. Inc., 3.8%; AutoAlliance International Inc., 1.9%; Subaru of Indiana Automotive Inc., 1.1%; BMW of North America Inc., 1.0%; Mitsubishi Motor Mfg. of America Inc., 0.8%; Mercedes-Benz U.S. of DaimlerChrysler, 0.7%; and other manufacturers, 3.8%.
