Mercedes-Benz USA announced the appointment of Klaus Ulkann to the newly created position of vice president, client services at the company’s Montvale, N.J. headquarters.
In his new position as vice president, client services, Ulkann will have overall responsibility for service, parts, engineering services and the Client Assistance Center (CAC). As a member of executive management, Ulkann reports to Paul Halata, president and CEO of Mercedes-Benz USA.
Ulkann brings 24 years of automobile experience in the area of after-sales to Mercedes-Benz USA. His most recent position was director, parts and services at DaimlerChrysler U.K. (DCUK), where he was responsible for all parts and service activities for both passenger cars and commercial vehicles. He was instrumental in setting up DCUK’s Customer Assistance Center. During his tenure in the U.K., he also played a key role in the expansion of the company’s parts operation into European Logistics Center, serving Ireland, as well as the whole UK from its base in Milton Keynes, England. Since January 2000, Ulkann was also responsible for Chrysler and Jeep parts and service activities in the U.K.
He joined the former Daimler-Benz in 1976, where he held a number of positions within the German sales network, including technical director of the company’s Schweinfurt and Kassel retail centers. In 1992, he joined the former Mercedes-Benz (UK) Ltd. as general manager, after-sales and later became a member of MBUK’s executive management team in 1996 as director, parts and services.
Ulkann holds an engineering degree from a technical university in Cologne.
Ulkann is originally from the Rhineland area of Germany. He and his wife, Edith, have relocated to Ramsey, N.J.
