Toyota expects US vehicle industry sales in August to be similar to July’s strong levels and hit an annual rate of 17 million, a top Toyota US official told Reuters.
“We are anticipating a strong industry for August,” said Bob Carter, vice president of sales at the automaker’s US division. “Our expectation is for a similar level (to July). “We are right on our plan for August.”
Reuters noted that automakers are scheduled to report their light-vehicle sales for August, which has two selling days less this year, on September 1.
Buoyed by high incentives, industry-wide light-vehicle sales reached a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 17.2 million for July, off 1% from a year earlier, the report noted.
