Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc., today announced prices for the 2001 Toyota Corolla compact sedan that will feature several styling and equipment upgrades. The new 2001 Corolla is expected to arrive in dealer showrooms in mid-May.

Corolla prices will begin as low as $12,568 for a CE model with a five-speed manual transmission and $12,983 when equipped with a three-speed automatic. A new sporty “S” model will carry a base price ranging from $12,793 for a five-speed manual to $13,608 with a four-speed electronically controlled transmission. The premium grade Corolla LE will begin at $13,383 with a five-speed manual and $14,198 with the four-speed automatic.

Styling and equipment upgrades for the 2001 Corolla will include a new front fascia that features a new front grille with chrome-plated trim, lowered front-end bumper, four-beam design headlamps, new rear backup lights, and color-keyed body side moldings on select models. Other features include new wheel covers, three new interior fabrics and two new exterior colors. The new sporty “S” model will feature color-keyed body side moldings and door handles, rear mudguards and front grille, black manual remote control mirrors, a unique wheel cover, fog lights, unique interior fabric, sport steering wheel, tachometer with red illumination and outside temperature gauge, and special badging. The Corolla VE model is discontinued.
