The Contech arm of SPX Corporation, which makes aluminium, magnesium and zinc die-cast components, has been awarded a five-year contract worth $US 20 million annually to supply the fully machined aluminium rack and pinion housing, front axle carrier and front axle tube for the next generation Ford F150 truck. Production is scheduled to begin in July 2003.

SPX Contech president James Peters said: “We have an established relationship with this customer to supply components manufactured using our proprietary P2000 high integrity die-casting process. This new contract takes advantage of the P2000 technology and also allows us to provide a broad range of value added engineered casting and machining.”
