Automotive Newswire from BRG Townsend, Inc. reports that Carlos Ghosn seems ready to reform the company’s dealer and distribution organisation. According to BRG, Ghosn started in Japan last week in a speech to dealers: “In the current market environment where roads are changing and competition is thriving, dealers should take all the challenges without depending solely on existing and past practices.”
Ghosn is encouraging Nissan dealers to be innovative to attract customers, never mind what the condition of the economy. “Customers’ needs are changing,” he told the Japanese dealers. “They are becoming more demanding. People are waiting longer before buying new cars. New business models may be needed to respond quickly to customers’ changing purchasing behaviours and to provide value-added services to meet all their needs at a reasonable price.”
