Vehicle production last week in the US, Canada and Mexico was expected to hit an estimated 308,894 units, up 0.3% from the 307,908 cars and trucks built the previous week, according to WardsAuto.com.
Including last week’s estimates, calendar year North American output now totals 14,737,435 vehicles, up 0.5% from like-2004’s pace.
In the US, automakers were expected to produce 218,123 vehicles last week, up 1.2% from the 215,454 cars and trucks built the previous week. To date, calendar 2005 US vehicle output totals an estimated 10,865,163 units, up 0.2% compared to the 10,843,997 vehicles built in like-2004.
Last week’s Canadian vehicle production was estimated at 56,376, an increase of 3.5% from the 54,481 units assembled the previous week. Estimated calendar 2005 Canadian vehicle production now stands at 2,390,629 units, down 1.8% compared to the 2,433,268 vehicles produced in like-2004.
Of the cars and trucks slated for production last week in the US, General Motors Corp. accounted for 24.3%; Ford Motor Co., 23.5%; Chrysler of DaimlerChrysler, 10.0%; Honda of America Mfg. Inc., 9.1%; Toyota Motor Mfg. Inc., 8.1%; Nissan Motor Mfg. Corp., 8.5%; New United Motor Mfg. Inc., 4.5%; AutoAlliance International Inc., 2.6%; Subaru of Indiana Automotive Inc., 1.3%; BMW of North America Inc., 1.2%; Mitsubishi Motor Mfg. of America Inc., 0.9%; Mercedes-Benz U.S. of DaimlerChrysler, 1.0%; and other manufacturers, 5.0%.
