Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) today announced its Automotive and Industrial Electronics Group (AIEG) received two “Recognition of Achievement World Excellence Awards” from the Ford Motor Company for outstanding performance as a supplier in 1999.
The World Excellence Award provides annual recognition based on quality, cost and delivery metrics that were jointly developed by Ford and its suppliers. Fifty suppliers from 10 countries won 65 awards in various categories.
Motorola AIEG was recognized for being “successful in leading Ford initiatives that deliver mutual success in customer satisfaction,” earning praise in the warranty reduction program category of “auto body” and in the environmental leadership category for having a majority of its plants registered to ISO 14001.
“Motorola is part of an exclusive world-class club of Ford’s top suppliers,” said Carlos Mazzorin, Ford Motor Company’s group vice president of global purchasing and South America. “Motorola made extraordinary contributions to Ford that helped make 1999 a very successful year. Ford’s quest for excellence cannot be accomplished without our supplier partners, and performance like this deserves to be recognized.”
“We are delighted a world-class automaker and global leader such as Ford recognizes our commitment to quality,” said David Melka, senior vice president and general manager, Motorola AIEG. “These awards are further evidence that Motorola is committed to the automotive industry.”
The “Recognition of Achievement Award” is given to suppliers who impact customer satisfaction by leading Ford key initiatives, such as high mileage improvement, warranty reduction, environmental leadership and consumer-focused technology.
