General Motors Saturn unit will boost its number of US dealerships from 433 not to 650-700 by 2012, WardsAuto.com said.
Saturn marketing head Jill Lajdziak told WardsAuto.com that the brand would add about 10 new outlets next year and an additional 18 new dealerships in 2004.
“We’ve got pockets of the country where we’re not represented,” said, according to WardsAuto.com.
Lajdziak told WardsAuto.com that Saturn’s expanding lineup, with new models such as the Vue SUV, was increasing its appeal in areas of the US where demand previously didn’t warrant dealerships.
Increasing the number of dealerships to about 700 would bring Saturn closer to its key competitors – Toyota and Honda – each of which operates roughly 1,000 dealerships, Lajdziak said, according to WardsAuto.com.
