The MSN Carpoint internet website service has been expanded into 19 markets and 11 languages, making it the world’s largest automotive buying and ownership services network, Microsoft claims.
The company recently launched 15 websites in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region in only 10 months.
In a statement, Microsoft said that the rapid international growth of Carpoint, the “autos” channel on MSN, was supported by its adoption of Microsoft’s own .NET technology, the global presence on the MSN network, and a seven-year track record.
MSN Carpoint now has live sites live in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United States and the United Kingdom, as well as a European gateway site.
In addition to local single-language sites, there are three markets that have bilingual sites: Belgium (Dutch and French), Canada (English and French) and Switzerland (French and German).

By GlobalDataMore than four million consumers are registered on MSN Carpoint for ownership services, such as My Car, a feature that allows drivers to register their vehicles online and receive local traffic alerts, fuel prices, driving directions, service reminders, recall notices, service discounts, repair estimates and local dealer information. The site also delivers traffic, fuel pricing and navigation information via hand-held wireless devices such as PDAs.
Microsoft claims that Carpoint now reaches 270 million monthly visitors and has also developed linked online marketing programmes for automotive sector companies including Volkswagen, Renault, Fiat, Pirelli and the MG Rover group.
