Program Aims to Help Suppliers ‘Globalize’ Internal Engineering Departments

The HCI Group today announced the launch of its European Engineers Program, which will bring European engineers to work in the United States for automotive suppliers. “This new program is a natural progression of HCI Group’s mission of assisting suppliers to compete successfully in the global auto industry,” said Ronald Hesse, president, HCI Group. “By bringing in these much needed engineers, suppliers are better equipped to handle and deal with international projects.”

The HCI Group will team with UK-based Network Recruitment Partnership, a leading European recruitment firm specializing in technical, automotive and executive recruitment, and Detroit-based Butzel Long, a leading law firm with extensive experience in the automotive supplier industry and one of the leading immigration practices in the Midwest.

Globalization benefits participating suppliers by allowing them to better compete in the global auto industry through melding international cultures; integrating varied academic and technical training backgrounds; bringing in best-practices from different work experiences; increasing international communication abilities; and adding foreign language capabilities in-house.

“European engineers can learn a great deal from their American counterparts. But the reverse is also true,” said Peter Bradford, managing consultant for Network Recruitment Partnership. “Because suppliers are having to become more international, their engineering departments are at the forefront of creating products that must address not just local, but foreign needs as well. The integration of foreign talent into a supplier company is therefore of utmost importance. Until this Program, that had been a missing link.”

The European Engineers Program enables suppliers to recruit, hire and bring European engineers into the United States. The HCI Group will market the program to automotive suppliers in the United States; Network Recruitment Partnership will handle the recruitment process for suppliers; and Butzel Long will provide complementary initial assessments on immigration strategies for specific candidates to the suppliers, as well as offer the ability to assist the suppliers with immigration and visa needs throughout the process.

The HCI Group markets globalization products, services and programs to automotive suppliers and automotive companies. The company publishes the EUROtalk, LATINtalk and AMERItalk newsletters; the GLOBALtools product catalog; Globalization Seminars; One-on-One Meetings; and the ASTEP (Automotive Supplier Trainee Exchange Program).
