General Motors will invest $US450 million in two Flint, Michigan, plants, creating more than 300 new jobs, according to Reuters.
GM reportedly said it plans to expand its Flint Engine South plant and refurbish its Flint truck assembly plant. About $300 million will be invested in the engine plant, which makes the 4.2 litre six-cylinder engine currently used in mid-size sport utility vehicles such as the Chevy TrailBlazer and GMC Envoy, and in the future will be used in a variety of cars and SUVs.
Another $150 million will be invested in new machinery, tooling and equipment for GM’s Flint truck assembly plant, which builds the four-door Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra full-size pickups as well as some commercial medium-duty trucks, Reuters added.
