Jon Lauckner has been named GM vice president of global programme management, a new Detroit-based position, reporting to product development head Bob Lutz.
Lauckner, 47, most recently was global vehicle line executive for GM’s midsize vehicles worldwide, based at Opel’s facility in Russelsheim, Germany, where he also oversaw the GM Europe regional activities for that product line.
GM vehicles are developed by a network of global and regional teams. The executives responsible for each vehicle programme will report to Lauckner, and he will be responsible for the programme management activities within regional planning organisations.
Lauckner joined GM in 1979 as an engineer at Buick, and held several positions there before moving to GM’s product planning staff in 1988. He has been director of market and business analysis for GM’s Asia Pacific and Latin America regions, general director of planning at GM do Brasil and, in 2000, joined GM Europe as lead vehicle line executive for small cars.
