One day after Chrysler announced a summer marketing push, with new advertising touting its cash discounts and zero rate finance offers, General Motors has responded by extending its offer of interest-free financing for up to five years across most of its vehicle line-up.
According to Reuters, the new offers will be available until July 7 and GM has also raised its offer of cash rebates on some 2003 models to up to $4,000.
Reuters noted that GM’s new incentives programme was unveiled on the same day that car makers were expected to report that US sales in May were about even with last year’s results but down from a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 16.4 million in April.
Chrysler’s three-month campaign called the ‘Summer Sales Drive’ started on June 2 and runs until September 2.
