Freightliner LLC today announced that it has notified Consorcio G. Grupo Dina that it would terminate the supplier agreement Western Star Trucks Holdings made with DINA to market its Class 7 Solar Series product line in North America. The termination will become effective in 60 days, according to contract terms. Freightliner LLC’s acquisition of Western Star Trucks Holdings closed on September 26.

Approximately 600 Solar Series products were supplied to Western Star by DINA to date. According to Freightliner, a marketing alliance with DINA or any third party does not fit well with its long-range strategic plans.

Freightliner LLC, headquartered in Portland, Oregon, produces and markets Class 3-8 vehicles under the Freightliner, Sterling, Western Star, American LaFrance and Thomas Built Buses nameplates. Freightliner is a DaimlerChrysler Company, the world’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturer.
