Automotive component maker ArvinMeritor has named Charles “Chip” McClure chairman, chief executive officer and president, effective August 9.


McClure, who was president, CEO and a board member at Federal-Mogul Corporation, succeeds Larry Yost, who is retiring.


McClure has more than 25 years of automotive industry experience in a variety of roles. He joined Federal-Mogul in January 2001 as president and chief operating officer and became chief executive officer in July 2003.


McClure was previously president and CEO of Detroit Diesel and, from 1983 to 1997, held a number of management positions with Johnson Controls, including directing the company’s joint venture activities and its business with Ford and Chrysler.


He also he spent four years at Ford as a heavy-duty truck sales engineer and field service engineer.

McClure has a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Michigan, and a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from Cornell University.
