Ford has moved to counter criticism that it is moving too slowly to develop new products designed to improve its market position. Jim Padilla, president of Ford North America and executive vice president of Ford Motor Company said in a statement:

“Contrary to recent speculation, Ford Motor Company has not delayed any approved North American product programs and is fully on track to support its promise of delivering 65 new Ford, Lincoln and Mercury products in North America during the next five years. Further, there has been no change in total spending for product programs and no change in vehicle program timing through mid-decade.

“We have said from the beginning that we are embarking on a product-led transformation, and we mean it. This year alone, major product introductions include:

The all-new Ford F-150 pickup truck;

The Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey minivans;
