Ford Motor Company has appointed of Steven Hamp as chairman and chief executive officer Bill Ford’s chief of staff.
Hamp, now a Ford vice-president, will assist Bill Ford with day-to-day duties, as the chairman “steps up his drive to build and foster an innovation-driven culture”, according to a press release.
Ford said Hamp, 57, will focus on “strategic issues, alignment of senior leadership, and integration of strategy into the company’s operations”.
Hamp previously spent 27 years at The Henry Ford, most recently as the historical institution’s president.
He succeeds Jim Vella who will become a Ford visiting professor. Vella joined the car maker in 1988, as a producer for the communications network, and held a series of public affairs positions before being named vice president in 2001.
