Ford will build about 192,000 Mustangs in 2005, an increase of around 70%, or 80,000 units, over the previous year.

The company claims sales are up more than 45% over last year, with demand for the V8 GT coupe and newly launched convertible models currently exceeding supply.

“We’re planning to increase production well beyond what was initially planned. This will allow us to sell 160,000 – 165,000 Mustangs in the US this year,” a Ford spokesman said.
