EDS and GM have announced a four-year agreement for EDS to provide a high-performance, high-security Web hosting environment for GM’s quickly expanding business-to-business (B-to-B) and business-to-employee (B-to-E) initiatives worldwide. GM is converting its supply chain entirely to Web-based e-business. The company has more than 30,000 suppliers worldwide. Web technology also is flourishing internally at GM, which operates a highly developed intranet for its more than 388,000 employees around the world.

EDS also will provide a self-service portal to allow GM employees and application developers to more easily implement and manage Web hosting for hundreds of sites within GM.


Web hosting will initially be provided from EDS’ Web Vault(R) locations in Plano, Texas, and Auburn Hills, Mich. By using the two locations, EDS is able to provide a high level of disaster preparedness, pre-production validation and security.
