Edelbrock Corp. (Nasdaq:EDEL) today announced that it has acquired the exclusive rights to manufacture and sell internal engine, exhaust and suspension components to the import aftermarket throughout the world, under the Edelbrock and JG Engine Dynamics Inc. names.
Alhambra, Calif.-based JG Engine and Glendale, Calif.-based Automotive Systems Group are well known in the import market under their respective “JG” and “LightSpeed” names. Established in 1987, JG and LightSpeed are well-known industry leaders in the import-racing arena and in the aftermarket for providing workable alternatives to the import concept.
Commenting on the agreement, Edelbrock Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Vic Edelbrock said, “This is an exceptional growth opportunity for Edelbrock in that it positions us with a first-rate product to sell to the expanding segment of the automotive import aftermarket.
“We are extremely pleased with entering this long-term license agreement with Javier Gutierrez of JG Engine and Scott Revell of LightSpeed. Javier Gutierrez of JG Engine is considered the utmost authority in the import aftermarket.”
Edelbrock additionally commented, “The new license agreement allows us to immediately enter the $756 million (a) retail import aftermarket with such established products as aluminum intake manifolds, camshaft kits, exhaust systems, suspension and throttle body products as well as products under development such as aluminum cylinder heads and accessory items.”
