EDS has announced a multi-year information technology (IT) agreement with DaimlerChrysler Corporation. Financial terms were not disclosed. Under the agreement, EDS will manage the migration of servers and services to a consolidated managed services environment for DaimlerChrysler’s Michigan facilities.
“This partnership allows DaimlerChrysler to utilize EDS’ resources and innovation to manage complexity and continue the pursuit of quality and operational efficiencies,” said Sue Unger, Sr. Vice President/CIO, DaimlerChrysler AG.
EDS will oversee management of DaimlerChrysler’s hardware operations and server-based software.
“With over 20 years of automotive industry experience, EDS has a long history of partnering with automotive companies to transform information technology into an asset supporting business strategy,” said Darl Davidson, vice president, EDS’ Manufacturing Industry Group. “We are excited about this new partnership with DaimlerChrysler and we look forward to delivering exceptionally high quality services.”
By consolidating applications and information onto fewer, more reliable servers, EDS claims that it achieves new levels of server utilization, thus reducing total cost of ownership and improving service levels. In addition to reducing the IT footprint, EDS says it works with its clients to standardize technology and service, thereby delivering a more secure, consistent, reliable environment.
