DaimlerChrysler has announced key suppliers to its Belvidere, Illinois assembly plant.
The eight suppliers will provide a variety of vehicle parts and manufacturing services to the facility – three will build or move into nearby manufacturing facilities.
Android Industries, Grupo Antolin and Johnson Controls jointly announced with the state of Illinois their intention to locate in Belvidere. These three companies are expected to add an estimated 550 new jobs to the region and make substantial investments in their new facilities. Beginning late 2005, they will supply engine assemblies (Android), door trim modules (Grupo Antolin) and seat systems (Johnson Controls).
The other suppliers will supply parts from North American and European locations.
The other key suppliers are: AGC Automotive (rear windows and windscreens from Normal, Illinois); Lear Corporation (floor console and door trim from Greencastle, Indiana), overheads (Mendon, Michigan), carpet (Sheboygan, Wisconsin) and instrument panels (Iowa City, Iowa); NGK Spark Plugs (Irvine, California); ThyssenKrupp Presta: safety restraints and steering columns (Liechtenstein); and Yazaki North America: wiring (Obregon, Mexico).
