DaimlerChrysler is pleased to announce that effective immediately, Thomas W. LaSorda is appointed a Senior Vice President in Manufacturing with an initial focus on power train manufacturing, reporting to Gary L. Henson.

“Tom’s appointment is very significant,” said Henson, Executive Vice President – Manufacturing. “He brings broad automotive experience to DaimlerChrysler, having most recently served as General Motors’ Vice President – Quality, Reliability & Competitive Operations Implementation. We expect Tom to make major contributions in what promises to be a very challenging future.”

At GM, LaSorda’s career included various manufacturing and quality related assignments in the U.S., Canada and Europe. LaSorda’s overseas experience included responsibility for planning and the execution of a new manufacturing assembly plant for Opel Eisenach GMBH in Germany, where he served as President.

With LaSorda’s appointment DaimlerChrysler announces that Carlos Lobo leaves his current post as Senior VP – Power Train Manufacturing and moves to President and CEO – New Venture Gear, Inc. (NVG).

“We are very pleased to have Carlos assume responsibility for all New Venture Gear operations,” said Henson. “Carlos brings important experience in power train engineering to his new role running an important supplier to DaimlerChrysler.”

Lobo succeeds Fred L. Hubacker, who is appointed Chief Administrative Officer for NVG, with responsibility for Finance, Human Resources, Legal, Information Technology and Sales, Marketing and Customer Satisfaction.
