The largest growth markets were the NAFTA region with sales of 134,200 units (118,000); Latin America: 40,200 (37,000) and the rest of the world including Asia: 77,100 units (65,200).


The business unit Trucks NAFTA (Freightliner/Sterling/ Thomas Built buses) achieved a 13% boost in unit sales to 128,300, up from 114,000.


Sales of Mercedes-Benz vans reached 230 800 units, 200 below the 2002 total.


The buses and coaches business unit increased sales to 28,300 units (25,100).
