Engineering, testing and diagnostics provider to the automotive industry, Cosworth Technology, has became Mahle Powertrain Inc.
The acquisition by Mahle and the name change will strengthening and enhance the company’s capabilities, it said in a statement.
“Cosworth has long been known for its powertrain engineering expertise and its testing and diagnostics leadership in both North America and in Europe,” said a spokesman.
“We are finding that Mahle’s global reach has not only opened new doors of opportunity for us throughout the world, but it also has made us a stronger, more competitive supplier of technology.”
He said this capability will allow Mahle Powertrain to engineer and develop key components in engine performance, which traditionally have been the domain of automakers. As a result of the acquisition, he added, the firm has gained the technical expertise to engineer more of the components in engine sub-assemblies such as the cylinder head, which could then be supplied to automakers through the resources of its sister Mahle divisions.
