PTplace.com Allows Faster Customer Service and Records Six Million Dollars in Online Sales within First Three Months of Operation

In its continuing push to help Global 1000 companies become leaders in the digital economy, Cambridge Technology Partners, Inc. (Nasdaq:CATP; Cambridge), a global e-business services provider, today announced that it led the effort to build PTplace.com, a new e-commerce transaction gateway that gives Rockwell Automation a competitive advantage in the $30 billion electric motor and mechanical power transmission marketplace.

Rockwell Automation, a business of Rockwell International Corporation (NYSE:ROK), brings together leading brands in industrial automation and is now making these products available online. At PTplace.com, Rockwell Automation customers and distributors have round-the-clock Web access to information about DODGE® and Reliance Electric® brand power transmission and drive control products.

The site expedites order fulfillment and tracking and is producing results already. “PTplace.com has recorded more than six million dollars in online sales within the first three months of operation,” said Director, E-commerce, Rockwell Automation, Don Louis.

“We realized the need to establish an online presence,” continued Louis. “We chose to partner with Cambridge to build PTplace.com because of their experience with BroadVision, and their ability to help us quickly implement PTplace.com. Building a personalized e-commerce site for our distributors and large OEM customers gives us a competitive edge. We are able to complete transactions in less time, freeing our sales staff to accelerate growth.”

PTplace.com is a one-stop shop for authorized users, containing a variety of search functions, complete catalog data, net pricing, inventory views, invoice and shipping information. Orders can be placed and tracked online, making customer access to the products and information they need faster than ever. Cambridge worked within a short timeframe to develop a site that allows Rockwell Automation distributors and large OEM customers to be in control, with homepages tailored to the individual’s industry, job and application needs.

“Organizations like Rockwell Automation recognize the value of the Internet as a business tool for revenue generation,” said Vice President of Cambridge Technology Partners, Ralph Jovine. “The Internet gives companies the ability to personalize customer interaction at lower costs. We are a world leader in the delivery of BroadVision solutions, and we utilized this experience to create customized homepages for PTplace.com users that contain information about product changes, recent purchase orders, ongoing promotions and current news and editorials on industry matters.”

Understanding market demands, Cambridge executed a quick turnaround for PTplace.com. Beginning with a Product Definition Workshop and following through with site design, development and launch, the project was completed in five months. The rapid development and the user-friendly design of the site have resulted in rapid adoption of this new channel by Rockwell Automation customers. Cambridge is continuing to work with Rockwell Automation to expand the industrial giant’s Web presence.
