Rolls-Royce Motor Cars’ sales and marketing director, Howard Mosher, currently based in the UK, is to leave the company at the end of April to take up his new post of executive vice president, operations, at BMW North America in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey.


Mosher joined Rolls-Royce in March 2002 to head the sales, marketing and after-sales departments. His previous positions included president and CEO of Land Rover in North America (1999-2002) and the same role at Rolls-Royce North America (1988-1994).


Separately, Toyota Motors Sales USA announced it has promoted Don Esmond, currently senior vice president and general manager of its Toyota division, to senior vice president, automotive operations, responsible for all TMS automotive operations, including Toyota, Lexus, sales administration, logistics services, and sales units in Mexico and Puerto Rico.


Esmond joined TMS in 1982 and has held posts mostly in fleet and truck sales. He will continue to report to Jim Press, executive vice president and chief operating officer.

Jim Lentz, group vice president, marketing, is moving up to group vice president and general manager of the Toyota division, replacing Esmond.


The 23-year Toyota veteran has served in a variety of positions including general manager of the San Francisco and Los Angeles regions, vice president of marketing services at Central Atlantic Toyota Distributors and vice president of Scion. Lentz will continue to report to Esmond.


Denny Clements, group vice president and general manager of Lexus, will retire from June 1.


Bob Carter, vice president, Toyota sales division, has been promoted to group vice president and general manager of the Lexus division, replacing Clements.
