Vehicle production last week in the US, Canada and Mexico was expected to hit an estimated 345,599 units, down 3.7% from the 358,959 cars and trucks built the previous week, according to WardsAuto.com.

Including last week’s estimates, calendar year North American output now totals 16,061,092 vehicles, up 0.4% from like-2004’s pace.
In the US, automakers were expected to produce 245,126 vehicles last week, down 3.7% from the 254,420 cars and trucks built the previous week. To date, calendar 2005 U.S. vehicle output totals an estimated 11,761,640 units, down 0.6% compared to the 11,828,584 vehicles built in like-2004.
Last week’s Canadian vehicle production was estimated at 61,758, a decrease of 1.4% from the 62,657 units assembled the previous week. Estimated calendar 2005 Canadian vehicle production now stands at 2,642,876 units, down 0.6% compared to the 2,659,352 vehicles produced in like-2004.
Of the cars and trucks slated for production last week in the US, General Motors Corp. accounted for 28.5%; Ford Motor Co., 23.2%; Chrysler of DaimlerChrysler, 10.9%; Honda of America Mfg. Inc., 8.0%; Toyota Motor Mfg. Inc., 7.3%; Nissan Motor Mfg. Corp., 7.2%; New United Motor Mfg. Inc., 4.0%; AutoAlliance International Inc., 2.2%; Subaru of Indiana Automotive Inc., 1.1%; BMW of North America Inc., 1.0%; Mitsubishi Motor Mfg. of America Inc., 0.9%; Mercedes-Benz U.S. of DaimlerChrysler, 0.8%; and other manufacturers, 4.9%.
